Young Eagles rally at Fallbrook Airpark includes 1000th flight

young-eagles-rally-at-fallbrook-airparkFALLBROOK – During the Young Eagles rally held at Fallbrook Airpark on Saturday, April 27, the 1,000th youngster was flown out of Fallbrook Air Park. The Young Eagle was Dacy Denton, 8, of Fallbrook, and the pilot was Don Evans, also of Fallbrook.

Evans directed the local FFCAP/Chapter 1279 Young Eagles program until late last year, so it was appropriate he should make the 1,000th local Young Eagle flight. Later on the same day, Evans flew his 100th Young Eagle flight.

Assystem to unveil new simulator in Paris

AssystemFrench engineering group Assystem enhances off-the-shelf flight simulation software to train avionics developers and test equipment within its cockpit environment.

The Toulouse-based company is showing the single-screen simulator at its stand where visitors can go up for a virtual spin in an Airbus A380. But Jonathan Ronsin, system test engineer and A320 pilot, says that the firm is developing a new multi-screen procedure trainer with centre pedestal and overhead panel, which will be shown at the Paris air show in June.

Not the dream job it once was–has it discouraged new pilots?New pilots have been declining for a while, this is nothing new. But why… well if we knew that as pilots we’d change it, wouldn’t we! Here are some ideas though and perhaps that will spark someone else into an idea how to solve it.

Remember when flying airplanes first started it was “Those magnificent men in their flying machines.” Pilots were like gods, few could be them and everyone wanted to.

The training camp provides free instruction and low-cost airplane rentals to potential female pilots across the country. Housing is also provided, either in a house or in tents at the airport.
