Plane portrait 411 ChampEntries are now open for the First Annual International Air Meet- Championship Cross Country Air Races to be held May 23-26, at Durant, Oklahoma.

The first entry has been submitted by Jeff Barnes of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Race #411 Vans RV-6 (pictured above). Jeff is the 2013 Sport Air Racing League Gold Points Champion.

•  “First, it was a safe AirVenture, which is always our top priority, plus we were blessed with a week of nearly perfect weather. We also met a number of other objectives this year, including reconnecting with our volunteers and members on the grounds, upgrading the food concessions and options, and providing more value and activities throughout the day for attendees. We also had a tremendous amount of aviation innovation brought to Oshkosh.”

Attendance: Very comparable to 2012 with more than 500,000 in total estimated attendance

RAF Waddington International Air Show: record number of visitors expected

It’s a chance to see airplanes, remote control planes, helicopters, model trains in operation and on exhibit, and classic and exotic car displays. Antique railroad maintenance equipment, train artifacts and memorabilia will be on site for guests to explore.

Reno-Air-Races-2012The 2012 Reno Air Races are set to kick off on Wednesday, continuing a nearly 50-year-long tradition that has worked to overcome a number of challenges since the tragic events of last year’s competition.

Southport Airshow draws 150,000 spectators

Vulcan-XH558-flightMore than 150,000 spectators have turned out for the Southport Airshow, the event's organisers said.

The Vulcan Bomber XH558 was the main attraction of the 21st event, which is the aircraft's only appearance in the North West this year.
