Latest Amelia Earhart search falls short

Amelia-EarhartA $2.2 million expedition that hoped to find wreckage from famed aviator Amelia Earhart's final flight is on its way back to Hawaii without the dramatic, conclusive plane images searchers were hoping to attain.

But the group leading the search, The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery, still believes Earhart and her navigator crashed onto a reef off a remote island in the Pacific Ocean 75 years ago this month.

Mid-Atlantic air crash 'due to pilot and technical failure'

The final report into the crash by France's aviation authority, the BEA, says the crew did not react correctly after the Airbus A330 had technical failures.

Seven people on board the plane died, as well as two children and an elderly woman on the ground.

Indonesia finds black box part of crashed Russian jet

North Sea Super Puma had earlier malfunction

Helicopter-ditchingA helicopter that ditched in the North Sea last week with 14 personnel on board had been involved in another incident just three weeks earlier.

Operator Bond said the EC225 model suffered a malfunction on its approach to Aberdeen Airport on 19 April.
