Rolls-Royce 'regrets' Qantas A380 engine explosion

The mid-air failure resulted in Qantas grounding its entire fleet of A380 planesRolls-Royce has said that it "regrets" the mid-air failure of one of its Trent 900 engines which happened on a Qantas A380 plane in November 2010.

The explosion in the engine had forced an emergency landing of the plane.

Rolls-Royce issued the statement after Australia's transport safety regulator blamed

The NTSB may remove itself from further investigation of the fatal crash of an RV-4 at Laughlin Bullhead International Airport, Ariz., Saturday April 20, after an autopsy determined the pilot died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head prior to the crash. First reports speculated that the pilot and sole occupant, 44-year-old Thomas Joseph, died from injuries sustained when the plane impacted the ground near Bullhead's single 7,500-foot runway. But a police spokesperson said Monday an autopsy completed earlier in the day determined that the pilot was dead before the plane crashed.

An-24 crash in DonetskUkrainian investigators have strongly criticised South Airlines' operations after finding that an unprepared crew allowed an Antonov An-24 to lose airspeed during approach before it crashed at Donetsk.

Donetsk had been experiencing fog and low-visibility conditions. The pilots had been given accurate and timely meteorological information and landing systems at the airport were operating correctly.

A Tulsa pilot's ham-handed attempt to cover his tracks has cost him his helicopter and earned him a two-year ban on flying or even owning an aircraft. William Stokely agreed to a plea deal with federal authorities last week to surrender his Robinson R44 and accept the flight ban after admitting he tried to outwit them by using a piece of electrical tape to change one of the registration marks on his aircraft from a Q to an O.

The employees at Lackey’s Steak & Seafood Restaurant of Hamilton were gearing up for a typical Saturday evening when the strangest thing happened.

A man walked into the restaurant and went straight through into the dishwashing area of the kitchen and sat down. He didn’t ask for anything or anybody, but just sat there. About five minutes later, owner Kenneth Lackey walked in and asked who he was. The staff told him they didn’t know, that they thought he was waiting there for Kenneth. When questioned by Kenneth, the man responded, “My girlfriend left me in the swamp.”

The chopper plunged to the ground after the impact, sending smoke and flames billowing into the sky at the height of the morning rush hour.
